I used to be a big fan of Kurt Vile (maybe still am?). Went to see him live in 2019 and was absolutely stoked about it. Show starts, Kurt comes up on stage drunk out of his mind, can barely stand and proceeds to play one of the worst concerts I've ever heard or seen only for him to walk off three songs too early in the set. Left behind his band in utter confusion, and the audience even moreso. Still not sure whether I can separate that experience from the artist, but the music's nice I guess?

Maybe it's just me but I feel like this album's a big step forward for him, better songs, hooks and well his singing's still where it was ;-) OR maybe he sold out and went pop and that's what I like. Dunno
